Meeting My Mentor

As soon as my first semester ended, and I found out who my SA (school associate mentor) was going to be, I wanted to visit his classroom and get to know him. In June I made arrangements with him to go into the class and help out on an afternoon field trip. I was really nervous to meet middle school students. My memories of middle school were terrible. The kids were mean to each other and hard on student teachers. However, I was very pleasantly surprised to find out that the students were not scary at all. In fact, they were overly friendly and I became even more excited to be switching to middle school. Also, my SA seemed like he was going to be perfect for me. I really liked his personality and I thought that he was really good with the students. As soon as I left the school I asked my FA's if they had placed me with him on purpose because we were a good match personality-wise. They both said no, that it had happened by chance. I was so grateful I had gotten someone who I already knew I was happy working with. Also, he's a major Star Wars fan. His whole class is covered with Star Wars stuff. Photos to come!
