TTOC = Teacher Teaching On Call
I got called for work on the very first day of being available! My orientation was January 7th and I got called on January 8th! They had told us that if they called it would most likely be before 9am so when 9am came and went I figured I wasn't getting any work that day. BUT THEN, I got an emergency call at 9:45am and had to scramble to get ready! I worked only from recess to lunch. It was very short, but definitely the best form of introduction to the scary world of teaching!
Since then I have been working almost every day! I mostly get kindergarten classes and a few middle school classes. Every once in a while I will get other grades but those are the most frequent for sure.
I love the job of teaching, being a ttoc is interesting and refreshing, but I hate being on call. I can't wait until I get a contract!
I joined a new teacher mentoring group and have met some great people so far! Looking forward meeting more!
